Buy Ancestral Cosmetics for an Irish suet balm with a full INCI list and a resinous six-oil scent, at the lower price per ounce, if you don't mind paying in euros. Tallow Me Pretty is the pick if you want a US-made suet balm with eleven printed ingredients, a citrus-and-lavender scent, and the longest guarantee in this whole series, 90 days. Both name suet, both use raw honey and beeswax, and both skip water. The fork is currency, scent family, jar size and the try window.
I read both product pages, both founder pages and both shipping lines on September 6, 2026, and every number below is from that day. Ancestral's page rendered in euros from a US connection with no dollar figure beside it, so your card's rate on the day sets the dollar price.
The third jar, named here and once more after the table, is Honey Glow ($42): manuka as an oil-soluble extract on 100% suet, eight ingredients, no beeswax, poured dense. It isn't the winner of a contest. It's a different answer to the same honey question, and I'll say plainly who it suits.
What's in each one?
Ancestral Cosmetics' Original Tallow & Honey Balm prints a ten-item INCI list as of September 6, 2026: tallow, olive fruit oil, beeswax, honey (Mel), and six essential oils: frankincense, neroli, palmarosa, sandalwood, rose geranium and patchouli. A plain-language list sits beside it, which is how I'd like every brand to do it. Suet is stated twice: the page says they use "fresh suet, the purest fat from around the kidneys" from grass-fed and grass-finished, pasture-raised Irish cattle. Their unscented version is four ingredients, tallow, olive oil, beeswax and honey, at the same price.
Tallow Me Pretty's Tallow & Honey Balm prints eleven: grass-fed and finished tallow, organic beeswax, organic jojoba seed oil, organic raw honey, and seven oils: lavender, sweet orange, grapefruit peel, tangerine, white grapefruit, tea tree and rosemary. Suet is stated with the render method: "never bleached, never deodorized, small batch filtered". There's no olive oil; jojoba is the carrier instead. No unscented version of this balm is shown; their Unscented Cloud Cream is a different product.
These are the two longest labels in this series, and both are printed in full, in text, on the page. That's a point for both, and it's rarer than it should be. The rule behind it is plain enough: a cosmetic has to declare every ingredient in descending order of predominance, using dictionary names, which is why an INCI list tells you the order of a recipe even when it tells you nothing about the amounts. Neither list carries an added antioxidant like vitamin E, so the fat's own freshness carries the shelf life. If you want to know why the cut matters, suet, not trim covers it.
Euros or dollars: what does each one actually cost?
Ancestral is €26.00 for one 60 ml jar, which the page rounds to 2 oz, as of September 6, 2026. Two jars are €49.00 (€24.50 each) and three are €71.00 (€23.66 each), so a single works out to €13.00 an ounce and the three-pack to €11.83. No dollar price is shown on the page. Their shipping line lists free delivery to the USA over $60, to Ireland over €50 and to Europe over €100. A euro price is easy to read and hard to predict. The day's rate and your card's foreign fee decide the dollar figure.
Tallow Me Pretty is $32.00 for a 1.58 oz jar, or $20.25 an ounce. The three-pack is $69.00, which the page calls 21% off, and that's $14.56 an ounce across 4.74 oz. Orders ship from Michigan within one to three business days, and shipping is free over $50. The 1.58 oz jar is the smallest in this series, which matters if you're comparing sticker prices across brands.
Guarantee windows: 90 days, no window, 60 days
Tallow Me Pretty's 90-day money-back guarantee is the longest of any brand in these five posts. The homepage says you can request a refund within 90 days, with some exclusions. Ancestral's promise reads "we will make it right" with no day window shown, which is warm but leaves the terms to a conversation. Both show a subscription option; neither shows a percentage on the pages I read.
For reference, my own window is sixty days on an opened jar, and I wrote up why in the design of the 60-Day Skin Test. Ninety days is longer than sixty, and theirs is the longest window here.

Who is Ancestral Cosmetics for?
Ancestral does the traditional Irish honey balm well in its own terms. Suet is named and explained, the cattle are grass-fed and grass-finished on Irish pasture, the INCI is printed, and the scent sits in the frankincense, neroli and sandalwood family rather than citrus. The founders are named (Renata and Mihael, parents of four), the page shows 4,732 reviews with 90% five-star, and the unscented version carries 570 reviews of its own. Multipacks bring the per-ounce price down if you're stocking up.
It's the pick for a buyer in Ireland or Europe, where shipping thresholds are set in euros, or for anyone who wants a resinous floral scent and a named-suet label and doesn't mind the currency conversion. Their page says the balm "supports wound healing, and improve the appearance of scars" and their FAQ mentions eczema. That's their claim to make; it isn't one I make for any balm, ours included, because health-related advertising is expected to rest on competent and reliable scientific evidence, implied claims included.
Who is Tallow Me Pretty for?
Tallow Me Pretty does the bright, fully labeled US honey balm well. Suet is named with the render method, all eleven ingredients are printed, jojoba replaces olive oil, and the 90-day window is the longest here. The brand's story is founder-written and personal, the page shows a 4.9 rating from 9,000+ customers, and shipping is fast from Michigan. The scent is citrus-forward, which reads fresh on a body balm.
It's the pick for someone who wants dollar pricing, a citrus-and-lavender scent, and the longest try window. One note from my bench: citrus peel oils are the group most often flagged for sun sensitivity, so I'd wear a citrus-forward balm at night rather than before a hike, and I'd patch test any seven-oil recipe on the inner arm first. Their page says the balm "Repairs dry, rough, or irritated skin" and names eczema, psoriasis and dermatitis. Again, that's their claim, not mine. It's cosmetic care, not a treatment. Your provider's plan comes first.
Where does Craft fit as the third jar?
Honey Glow ($42 for 2 oz, $21 an ounce) is the jar I'd set beside these two if the honey is why you're shopping. Per ounce it sits above Ancestral's €13 and about level with Tallow Me Pretty's $20.25. The honey is the difference in kind: manuka goes in as an oil-soluble extract, so there's no water to separate and no beeswax needed to hold it. Eight ingredients: 100% suet tallow from grass-fed and grass-finished Montana cattle (named on the label, rendered low and slow by our Montana render partner), cold-pressed oat oil, squalane, the manuka extract, arrowroot, calendula CO2 extract, vitamin E and rosemary antioxidant CO2. The Classic carries no essential oils; the Vanilla Edition adds vanilla CO2. It's poured dense, sold by weight (56 g, no air), and blended in small batches in the Mountain West. Its one job is dry, thirsty, barrier-stressed skin when lotion never lasts, and it carries the 60-Day Skin Test. Alison Harris's verified review calls out "the smooth feel on my skin and the lightly sweet scent". Here's Honey Glow.
Not sure which jar? The two-minute quiz at /pages/find-your-balm sorts it. If you'd rather just start, Honey Glow ($42) is the one I hand people first.
Questions we hear
Does Ancestral Cosmetics sell in US dollars?
As of September 6, 2026, the product page shows euros only, €26.00 for one jar, with no dollar figure beside it. They ship to the USA with free delivery over $60, and your card converts the charge at the day's rate.
Does Tallow Me Pretty make an unscented honey balm?
Not as of September 6, 2026. The Tallow & Honey Balm comes in one scented recipe with seven oils; the Unscented Cloud Cream is a separate product, and it's a different job.
Which has the longer guarantee?
Tallow Me Pretty, at 90 days money-back with some exclusions. Ancestral promises to make it right with no window stated. Craft's 60-Day Skin Test refunds the product price within sixty days if your skin disagrees.
Do both name suet?
Yes. Ancestral says fresh suet from around the kidneys of Irish grass-fed and grass-finished cattle; Tallow Me Pretty says grass-fed suet tallow, never bleached or deodorized. That's a line most of the category doesn't print, and both print it.
Which is cheaper per ounce?
Ancestral, on paper: €13.00 an ounce against $20.25, as of September 6, 2026, with the exact gap depending on the day's exchange rate. In three-packs it's €11.83 against $14.56.
Does raw honey separate out of a tallow balm?
It can. Raw honey runs about 17% water, and water doesn't dissolve in fat, so both of these brands use beeswax to hold it in suspension. An oil-soluble extract dissolves instead, which is the route Honey Glow takes; the full line is in the balms collection.

Start with the complete guide to beef tallow for skin. Then read how manuka is graded and why we use an extract, what oat, squalane and calendula do inside Honey Glow, and what grass-fed and grass-finished mean on a label. For the sourcing story behind every Craft jar, suet, not trim is the short version, and it's the one I'd read first. If two brands isn't a wide enough field, the comparison page puts 12 side by side. Our own jar beside the same whipped cream is in Craft Tallow vs Tallow Me Pretty.
