We buy the fat. We do not run the ranch. 100% suet from grass-fed and grass-finished cattle on Montana family ranches, bought direct, blended in small batches in the Mountain West, shipped from Cottonwood Heights, Utah.
Why five ingredients?
Because every one has a job and none of them is water. Water is what forces a preservative system into a jar, and it is most of what a lotion weighs. A balm with no water needs neither.
Will it smell like beef?
No. Suet rendered low and slow is nearly scentless, and Bare Silk Unscented carries no essential oils or fragrance, so it smells like nothing.
Why sold by weight?
Because a jar sold by volume can be part air. 2 oz on our label is 56 g of balm on a scale, and the price per ounce in the table is the price divided by that weight.
