Reported levels sat far below anything relevant to drug activity, and modern certificates of analysis rarely verify the compound batch to batch. The extract's case never rested on that molecule anyway.
How CO2 extraction works
Supercritical CO2 occupies a state between gas and liquid, dense enough to dissolve lipids while flowing into the seed's structure like vapor. Extraction runs near room temperature in a sealed vessel that oxygen never enters, and depressurizing at the end flashes the CO2 away completely, leaving no solvent residue in the extract. Cold pressing takes the older route. A screw press grinds the seed with friction heat and full air contact, then filters what runs out. Heat and oxygen meeting polyunsaturated fat starts rancidity early, which is why pressed rosehip oil carries a famously short shelf life even under refrigeration. Human evidence leans on small cohort studies and long cosmetic tradition, with Chile's harvest of wild Rosa rubiginosa supplying both the raw material and decades of steady regional use. None of the pigment work used a finished balm, worth remembering before expectations inflate.
